Because we believe that pedicures are an essential part of healthy foot care, we wanted to give you the tools needed to choose a great salon. Carefully observe what goes on in the salon and don't be afraid to ask questions.
*First and most importantly, does the nail tech speak clear, fluent English? One should know what you mean when you say "I have this issue that I need help with".
*Do they ask about all medical problems and if you are taking blood thinners and/or ask you to fill out an information form? A well informed nail tech with a genuine level of concern for their clients will be able to give quick, correct information, explanations, and demonstrations.
*Does the nail tech examine your legs and feet and take off all polish BEFORE letting your feet enter the water?
*Do you hear the nail tech asking clients or if they have shaved their legs in the last 24 hours?
*Does the Nail tech use a credo blade on calluses? They are illegal in most states and should only be used by a physician.
*Do you see the nail tech get a new file or buffer to use on you?
*Ask the nail tech how he/she cleans, disinfects, and sterilize their instruments as well as the whirlpool bowl.?
*Is the area clean and free from dust and dirty, used instruments/files?
*Does the nail tech have a doctor they refer clients to?
*Does the nail tech educate you on how to maintain and take care of your skin and nails in between pedicures?
